Searching, Sorting, and Querying Databases, Creating a Database Report

  1. Perform the activities 12.1 to 12.15 (pp. 229-247 of the lab manual) and print the sorted ATLASPOP.WDB database (Step 4 on p. 247).


  2. Perform the exercise marked "On Your Own" on pp. 247-248 (you don't need to print anything).


  3. Open the database of your 10 favorite movie actors and/or actresses (you were expected to build it as part of Assignment 8) and do the following:
    1. Find all records of your favorite actors and/or actresses born before 1966 and print them;
    2. Find all records of your favorite actors and actresses born in California and print them.
    Note: If any of the two queries listed above yields an empty list, don't print the empty list, just make a note of it on the cover page.

  4. Perform the activities 13.1 to 13.2 (pp. 251-256 of the lab manual) and print the resulting report (Step 7 on p. 256).


  5. In the MS Works Word Processor, create and print a cover page for this assignment. Don't forget to type in a brief one-paragraph description of Assignment 9.


  6. Turn in the cover page and the printouts, preferably, stapled together with the cover page on top.
