Due: The end of the lab session, Mar. 30 or Mar. 31
Database Basics
Perform the actions specified by Items 1, 3, 4, and 5 of
Activity 12.15 (p. 247 of the lab manual). This should cause
printing of the ATLASPOP.WDB database from the student diskette.
Perform the activities 11.1 to 11.5 (pp. 207-218 of the lab manual)
and the exercise marked "On Your Own" on p. 219. Print the resulting
EMPLOYEE.WDB database.
Perform the activities 11.6 to 11.10 (pp. 220-227 of the lab manual)
and print only the first record of the COINSFO.WDB database
after Step 5 of Activity 11.10 (see the top of p. 227). In order
to print the first record only, select the "Current record only"
option in the print dialog box, as the first record is being
viewed in the "View/Form" mode. Note: Item 3 of Activity
11.10 does not specify which ClipArt picture to add. If you
want it to be COINS.WDF, you may need to explicitly add COINS.WDF
to the list of available pictures first.
Build and print a database consisting of the records of
your 10 favorite movie actors and/or actresses. Each record
must contain the following fields:
Name;
Real name;
Date of birth (long format);
Place of birth;
The number of movie pictures with this actor/actress
listed in the Internet Movie Database,
http://us.imdb.com/search.html (give this field
a shorter name);
The title of your favorite movie with this actor/actress
(again, give this field a shorter name);
The year of the movie release;
The user rating of the movie (to find the user rating, click on
the movie title in the actor/actress filmography).
Note: Use a web browser, say, Netscape, to access the
Internet Movie Database.
In the MS Works Word Processor, create and print a cover page for this assignment. Don't forget to type in a brief one-paragraph description
of Assignment 8.
Turn in the cover page and the printouts, preferably, stapled together with the cover page on top.
